Group work activity

In groups you then created a version of Antigone focusing on setting it in a specific context. By doing this you had to focus on the use of the language in the piece.

What did your group create?
We recreated the synopses of Antigone and changed it to a more modern day theme (Gangsters). We decided to make the characters a bit funny and have two Antigone's (Sarah and Myself),two Ismene's(Pheobe and Ella), a Creon (Matteo) and a Haemon (Ellise).

What was the setting?
The setting is in Creons secret hide out were the room is full of girls surrounding him and Haemon. All entrances are guarded.

What characters were developed?
Creon- He had to be a bit more strict with the rule by being more loud and more forceful. He was a strong supporter for his son Haemon to discipline his girlfriend by hurting her as punishment.
Ismenes- They had to be more on Creons side and obey his every order. This including insulting and embarrassing their sisters in front of the masters and taking them off to torture them themselves to prove their loyalty to Creon.

How did you use language?
We made it sound like they used a lot of slang. Also they gave each other nicknames to make their selves sound a it more intimidating. However, this isn't successful because it is also a comedy so therefore it made the  audience laugh and remember who the characters are.
